From the moment that I saw a sneak peak before the release of this maxi skirt, I was obsessed with it. Although I collect a lot of clothes, it's actually not that often that I get the way that I did about this skirt, knowing that there was no question that I had to have it. I bought the Rani linen maxi skirt the day that it was available for purchase, I had serious FOMO over it as popular pieces from Spell And The Gypsy releases tend to sell out fast..
I'm generally quite partial to a full length skirt or dress with side slits and a fitted waist, it's such a retro & lady like style, especially if it has a button down front too! In addition to this, it was the color and waist detailing that really did it for me.
In anticipation of receiving this skirt I had ideas about what to pair it with, and I was surprised to find that some of those ideas didn't work out. I've figured that it's the color that threw me. It's a bit difficult to envision what colors will harmonize with the burnt orange/ copper of this skirt, you actually need to try things on.
So I've tried on lots of different tops with the Rani linen maxi skirt and it's been interesting, surprising and kinda fun to see what does and doesn't work. My favorite way to wear this retro inspired skirt is with a cami or singlet, i'll also wear it through the cooler seasons with a T-shirt or blouse. Being a lined linen blend woven fabric it's got a bit of weight to it, so it'll be suitable to wear in winter with stockings.
I feel that the Flor d' Luna cami (pictured) is a perfect pairing with the retro Rani skirt and thus far it's my favorite top to wear with the skirt.
The white and blue floral blouse is from Australian boho brand Arnhem, from which you can receive a $30 credit on your purchase via this link.
The beautiful Rani retro style skirt is currently in stock and available for purchase, I recommend sizing up in this skirt as I did, the waist measurements run on the smaller side and there's no stretch in the fabric. Also the skirt is long long, so if you're vertically challenged like me (5'2) the skirt will need to be taken up, I took at least a couple of inches off it.
