Lolita! Spell & The Gypsy Collective
Updated: Apr 5
Welcome to my very first blog post! I'm starting things off with one of my favorite dresses - The Lolita cut out gown by Spell And The Gypsy Collective (from the Lolita Festival collection 17')

There's a lot going on with this dress, from every angle of view there's interesting detail. This is a full length dress with thigh high side splits, fitted waist, cut out sides just above the waist, cut out back, halter neck tie, and mid length kimono sleeves. All of those details, plus the print and coloring make this Lolita gown one pretty full on piece!
A dress with this amount of detail and such a busy print is so easy to style, the dress itself is really more than enough on it's own. But I do love jackets and it's a good idea to keep one handy with an open back style like this; denim jacket for day time, leather jacket for going out at night.
I've received comments in this dress and other backless styles suggesting that wearing a backless dress is 'brave' or 'ballsy', that's not really the case in my opinion. Personally i'm comfortable with a backless style and I think that most people wear what they're comfortable with. Backless definitely isn't for everyone, but neither is anything...For me one of the benefits of being small chested is not having to worry about bra straps showing!
I purchased a second Lolita dress from Spell & The Gypsy Collective after becoming very fond of this one, same print, different style & color way. Post for Lolita #2 to come soon.
